Why bookmakers offer higher and lower odds in eSports betting

In any dota 2 bet, the match winner market is usually the common market punters go for. In this market, a punter is choosing a team from a given matchup to win the event. In the example above, a punter decides to bet on Na’Vi at odds of 1.60. If the punter places $100 on this bet, the punter’s potential return will be $160 ($100 x 1.60). The $160 includes the punter’s original bet of $100 as their stake amount, meaning that they will make a guaranteed profit of $60. When a punter uses decimal odds to bet on such events, the amount of money the punter will bet on is called the Risk Amount.
When a punter places a bet in esports betting, they will be given a bet ticket, which shows the potential amount of money they will win or the potential return. The decimal odds can also be used to calculate the probability of a specific outcome happening. This can be done by dividing the number 1 by decimal odds and multiplying by 100% (i.e. 1/Decimal odds x 100%). In the above example, the chance for Na’Vi winning the match is 62.5% (1/1.60 x 100%).
