Foreign Workers in Taiwan

As of the end of November 2017, the total number of foreign workers in the industry reached more than 670,000. This type of foreign employment employed enterprises and institutions in different industries to engage in more skilled jobs; More than 10,000 were employed in conservation organizations and the remaining 230,000 foreign workers were employed by families.

Whether it is the European countries, the Middle East, or the Asian region, there are different similar policies to support the entry of foreign workers into local families to help with domestic work. As far as we know, Hong Kong has only one type of foreign domestic workers called "foreign domestic helpers." There is no division in the type of work that is done. Basically, it is related to family work. Foreign workers have to do it. Taiwan’s work arrangements for social welfare workers are more meticulous. They are divided into two categories: “domestic helpers” and “family caregivers”. Among them, “home care” is also called guardianship. Both of these conditions and scope of work are not the same. The number of childcare and helpers serving the family was 230,000 and 1958 respectively.

It can be seen that the number of foreign workers employed by the family is not small, and the number of care workers is even greater. However, even if the number is large, these two types of jobs are not well protected in Taiwan. Click here to know more about #外籍看護.
