Briefcase: A Staple Among Work Bags

We started our research with the tried and true classic briefcase.

The briefcase represents the most high-end options available. Clean lines, smooth leather and understated accents are the hallmarks of this traditional choice. Aesthetically, a briefcase always makes a bold statement in the boardroom.

Functionally, a briefcase does exactly what it is designed to do.

The interior is generally lined, and features low-profile pockets for files, pens and notepads. A larger main compartment allows for larger items to be stored, allow you to toss in a snack or a binder. The briefcase gets negative marks for ease of use and portability.

With only a simple carrying handle, it can be quite inconvenient to use a briefcase during a long day of running from meeting to meeting. A briefcase usually doesn’t offer many options for safely carrying electronic devices such as laptops, so you are somewhat limited if you can’t live without your laptop or tablet.

A briefcase definitely gets an A+ for style, but is a bit dated in functionality.
